This 73- by 73-inch handmade quilt was made from a vintage quilt top from the 1970s using various cotton fabrics and patterns. The quilt is hand bound and uses 80/20 batting. The complicated work for the Lone Star was meticulously hand-sewn and placed in a beautiful burst of colors.
Working to preserve vintage quilts and quilt tops not only honors the craftsmanship of the past but also gives new life to these pieces of art. Quilts tops are soaked and washed prior to redesigning. This is truly a beautiful and fun quilt lovingly preserved.
This quilt was made from the "Lone Star" pattern.
The white background makes the multi-colored star pop and really gives this quilt a unique and groovy look. The backing for the quilt is made from Hoffman Dream Big Dahlia Panel. The quilting is a whimsical feather digital design.
The Lone Star quilt pattern is made up of six to eight points and includes squares and half-square triangles. The Lone Star quilt block is one of the oldest and most recognizable American quilt patterns. Extremely popular with Native American and Amish and throughout the South, the pattern was named by Texas quilters – its name a tribute to the Lone Star State.
Ready to ship. The quilt in the picture will be the quilt you receive, each quilt is handmade, so they are all unique - no two are alike. Additionally, with handmade items there is always an element of human error, whether it be a missed stitch or overlapping design, yet for me the beauty is in the imperfection.
